hay guys im looking a doing another project and was thinking of doing a hilux just woundering what you guys think.

im thinking of putting a ford au xr6 engine in to a 1980s hilux do you guys think this will work or will the engine be to long

my other option is to us a ford au 220kw xr8 engine  what do you guys think would be the better way to go

ive already had a worked 250 xflow engine in a 60 series and that went prity good so was leaning towards the v8 myself

just wanted to know if eather would fit

would the v8 have to mutch power for the hilux driveline

and any other problems you guys can see with what im gona try to do.

thanks.

Step 1. Talk to Queensland transport as the NCOP rules are imminent or in place already. Be ready with reasonably comprehensive plans of what you are proposing.

Step 2. If you get past step 1 then talk to an engineer licenced to pass the modifications about what needs to be done to pass.

There is no point in talking to people on the interweb about what may end up being an expensive unroadworthy pile of parts if you actually listen to them.

Lesson: talk to the people that MATTER first.

Straight 6 is a big engine for hilux bay but definitely possible have heard of people fitting 7mgtes so don't see why not. Don't forget the 220kw version is series 3 AU only and pretty expensive for what they are, if I were sticking with the windsor motor I'd buy the 302 and build it up myself and make heaps more than 220kw for the same money. Heaps and heaps of performance parts for a 302 in the states for bugger all dollars.

btw if you think a 250 xflow in a 60 series is power you will be blown away by a v8 in a lux.

This is better advice than the last 2 posts made. :finger:
