Bane of our performance wows matey.Depends how much hp you are looking to run you are caught in between needing a good filter that isn`t the size of your car.Or a mongrel stinking pod that sacrfices airflow for filtration. On Greeny Andrew at Ontrack modded a 4.8 patrol filter box that I haven`t had much trouble with(so haven`t changed) and we have it handleing fairly big hp now.Standard filter good for better than 500hp atw.Diesel hp will need alot more than petrol hp but i imagine the 4.8 airbox taken out to 4`on both ends would handle most 4.2 turbo diesels.hope that helps Cheers Billy Geddes..

the airbox/ fitler out of a gq with the electronic 2.8 turbo diesel. it bolts straight in and is similar to gu airbox but with a different lid so it fits under the gq bonnet. it flows a lot better than the oval shaped air filter, and should be fine for up to about 200hp. otherwise donaldson air boxes have a big range but require effort to fit depending on how full your engine bay is, you should be able to see their range online, or at most truck diesel spare shops.

PatrolDocta in Pakenham does a stainless airbox which can be made to fit a GQ for $550+fitting. It uses a large cylindrical truck filter and installs on the passenger inner gaurd. it is a tight fit and requires the overflow bottle and charcoal cannister to be relocated in some instances. It can have 3 or 4 inch inlets and outlets. We have fitted these to 3 cars now(boosted 4.2td gu, 355 stroker GQ and 4.2 carby GQ) and all have reported noticable gains over previous filter setups). call if you're interested as i dont monitor the forums. i can email pics if you like.
