So far all I know is no oil at home but after driving to work car lost maybe 2 litres of oil parked in work carpark and now its a very slow drip after being towed home. No bad noises no funny smells.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what to check before pulling gearbox out. I've already figured to check oil levels to see if its transfer or box and to clean the area and try to see where the leak is coming from. But is there any common areas of mishap I should be checking more thoroughly than others.
Also if box is needing removal any one got some tips on an easier way of doing it, I have only removed one gearbox before in a auto vitara and im guessing a manual cruiser is a different ballgame.

mate i think we are going to need some more info. where was the oil coming from. the front, top, rear of the gearbox. if you cant tell you may need to top up you gearbox oils and go for another drive pulling over and checking every so often.

Re: 80 series gearbox dumping oil
Sorry didn't have more info at the time. Ok so its coming from transfer somewhere and seems to be leaking out of one of the bolts near the filler plug for the back casing. Have had it suggested to use a copper washer. Any input, ill update as I find out more.

Re: 80 series gearbox dumping oil
Well bolt is now threadtaped with a fibre washer. So we'll see how it goes. If that leak stops then take it for a drive and see what happens.

Re: 80 series gearbox dumping oil
Ok so transfer is cracked have applied quik steel to seal it and one bolt is loose on the front of the bellhousing so will tighten that one up and maybe apply some threadlock. First real test will be tomorrow so will see how it goes and update then. Might be time to save up for a reco box and transfer.
