Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Im looking at chopping my gq wagon into a king cab. Iv done a dual cab and that was no problem. Im just not sure once the rear doors are cut how to seal them up around the sills and hinges. Any help and advise would be appreciated. Thanks Craig.

you can start with a short wheel base cab as the rear door section is already formed, or at least since you have the wagon already get an old mq or gq shorty and cut out the required b pillar section and graft it onto yours,it just depends on how big you want the extra cab to be. My gq extra cab ute has a roll cage in it and the seats go back further than a single cab, not heaps of extra room but enough for a sub, air compressor and all my other electrical gear on the back wall, amp, power converter. a mate cut down his wagon and got custom cages to weld a back on and form sheet metal to cover the old door hinges and sheet metal to form a b pillar where the rear window used to be. custom cages is at landsbough.

Exactly my problem, we start on mine at the end of the month.
Would love some input & ideas from fellas who have done this.

I guess you strip rubber seal off and shunt the door forward and weld it or weld a strip down the side & bottom?????

Most that do the Xtra cab conversion use the rear wall,sill,floor section from the ute
An Xtra cab conversion is alot different to a dual cab chop
Many people do them different ways use different parts or make up parts as they go
There is no exact specific way to do it
Make sure you consult relevant engineers as to whats right or wrong before starting
Do a search on this forum and others,there are threads and a few progress pics

i used the factory ute back just have to wach the ribs on the roof are difrent to the wagon
