i wouldnt think that would damage it that quickly. ive driven around with my centre diff lock in on my hybrid 40 and never a drama. something maybe let go on the viscious hub in the transfer. done many km's?

I read in your other thread that u have jsut fitted a lift kit.

Does it make the noise when u are coasting(not on the power and not backing off if u get me)? and doing over 70kph?

Its still fulltime 4wd?

I wouldnt mine betting that its the front shaft getting the vibs up because of the angle its running on, and its just coincidence that u noticed it after ur mate pushed the CDL, or because ur mate pushed the CDL its now pushed the front unis a bit hard and now they are causing the shaft to vibe

Mine was grinding when i bought the car. Turned out to be the slip joint on the front tailshaft so I installed a part-time kit. Was 50 bucks more than a second hand front shaft. Not sure how much to install though as I did it myself.

If it does it when coasting, then it is more than likely just the unis in the front shaft.. pull ya front shaft out and take it for a drive (remember to turn ya CDL on) and see if it does it.

ahh ok me and me mate pulled the front shaft out and took it for a drive before i put the post up and we didnt have the centre diff lock in and it made a real bad clunkin so we stoped and put it bak on. so if ya put the centre diff lock in it will stop clunkin

Putting centre diff lock in with front shaft removed engages the rear wheels otherwise it goes nowhere as they're all wheel drive

You sure it was locked?, there is a dash indicator for the center diff, unless the lamp has blown.

Do you mean shaft instead of joint?
And btw, how tall is the car? You might be needing a partime kit, not a double cardin shaft.

how much lift does it have? may just need new uni joints.

A double cardin jointed shaft is a bandaid solution. They tend to flog out quick.

its got a 3inch lift so shouldnt need anything too serious.

I would be trying new uni joints first. Get quality ones like Toyota or hardie spicer. miught cost a few $$ but will make a difference.
I have had to change new unis after only a couple of months coz they were cheap shite

You need to drop the front shaft and THEN take it for a spin.

Try putting 10mm spacers between gearbox crossmember and chassis... if that doesnt work, you just might have to get a partime kit.

is the drive shaft still in balance?
is the drive shaft still in phase correctly?

if it has been separated at the slip yolk and put back together out of phase, it may no longer be properly balanced

i havent seperated it or anything but it did get a new crank shaft seal in just before i bought it and toyota might have seperated it and havnt put it in properly

no, the change in angle wont be enough for this to be a problem.

your lift has increased the driveshaft angles, so unis etc are going to be under more strain which can exagerate problems.

check your unis are in properly and greased properly.
check the slip yolk splines are in good nick, they can flog out and cause vibration.
have your driveshaft checked for balance, and check that the two halves are phased correctly
