FJ40 or HIlux?

I’m having a hard time trying to decide if I want a FJ40 SWB or a 1984 - 1987 Hilux extra cab.
Can anyone give their opinion/experience?
Also is it possible to have a hard top on the FJ40 for winter/ trips to the snow and then change it for a soft top in summer?
In the future I would be looking at:
FJ40 - Coils, stronger diffs, V8, 33's or 35's
Hilux - Flexy Leafs, 2.7 (3rz) or 3lt turbo diesel, 33's
I like how basic and easy to work on the FJ40 is, but if I had a soft top I would need to keep any valuables locked up and it is an easy target for theft.
The Hilux would be good to carry the motorbike, but I wouldn’t expect it to be as good at 4wding as a FJ40 with coils.
All help really appreciated!
Also, why is it that I see more hilux comp trucks than 40 series (it might be something i will do a long way into the future) ?

They're two fairly different vehicles built to perform fairly different tasks. What do you want from it? If you're happy for men to go balls deep on you buy a Lux. If you want to bird-dog skanks and be able to moonwalk without looking like a poofter buy a 40.

Never owned a lux but have worked on them, have owned a couple of 40s. Neither one is more difficult to work on. They're both pretty simple mechanically. 40s probably had better engines stock but that's not saying much. Both accept better engines fairly easily (relatively).

Yes. Look for DAZ's 40 build in members. Or you could respect yourself as a man and rock the soft top in summer and a jacket in winter.

Are you aware of everything involved here? It's not easy or cheap, unlike the women you will find swarming around you with a 40. Just sayin'.
Hilux - Flexy Leafs, 2.7 (3rz) or 3lt turbo diesel, 33's
Again, I hope you have deep pockets or Tony Stark like engineering prowess. Definitely doable. Definitely not easy or cheap.

Lockable consoles and imobilisers are your friends. Well, they say they are but they probably talk smack about you behind your back.

How good it is offroad comes down to mods and driver. The vehicle choice is largely only relevant when talking stock vs stock. When talking about vehicles of this vintage, saying one is inherently better than the other is as retarded as naming your daughter "Shaniqua"...Having said that, if you're male, buy a 40. Have some self respect.

Post pics of your girlfriend/wife/mother. Help will follow. Seriously.

The lux is probably the most modified vehicle on the planet second probably only to the Jeep wrangler. Parts and upgrades are ricoculously easy to find and fit. Plus you need to have actually slept with a woman and not have to tuck your nuts back when you pee to avoid hitting them if you want to drive a 40 which puts a lot of Lux drivers out of the game before they've started. It's science.
Any other questions, PM Ray185. He knows everything about 40s and a whole lot about deep throating hermaphrodites, which makes him eminently capable of answering your questions about both 40s and luxes.

If you have to ask.....buy the lux. You are not worthy.
Everything Dex said is true, especially the hermy bit (they're not so bad after a while Dex, taste just like chicken). See my work car is a lux so I unavoidably swing both ways. This is not by choice, it's simply a lux thing and like the music, you can't stop it. I just really hope I don't end up with a Colorado next year with my hay and fur allergies.

Thanks for the info! I am convinced now that the 40 is the way to go.
