Longer springs & Shorter Shocks???

Post by bigpaj »

Hi guys,

I have 0-2 inch lift Rancho 9000XL shocks and want to put some GU springs in the back of my NL pajero.

What i'd like to know is, other than down travel is there a down side to this? Will this ruin the shocks?

Also will the shocks restrict the lift?

Thanks for the input.

LWB or SWB NL??
will the shocks restrict the lift? = No.
Will this ruin the shocks? = No / f#@k all (normal usage)
R U running a sway bar in the rear? If u r not then look at getting longer shocks.

I cant see an issue with these shocks running patrol springs. Standard length shocks would be an issue however i would say the sway bar will limit travel well before the 2"shocks top out. I don't see an issue with removing the sway bar either as i run a 3" Rancho shock, patrol spring and no sway bar and get excellent travel.

Hudson, do you have a part number for those shocks? I've been looking for a 3" shock forever

Part number is RS5115. I ordered them through a Rancho distributor here in Oz. From memory he said he would make them up. They are a great length shock and give heaps of travel with swaybar removed. Even patrol springs want to fall out. I suggest making up 10 to 20mm spacers for the bump stops to stop the shock bottoming out. I hope this helps.
