When you say turn over.... do you mean it wont crank (the harmonic ballancer at the front of the motor doesn't turn when your trying to start it), or it wont start....

its all turning just wont start all electrics are brand new, could it be because of a bent valve?

Can you be a bit more specific (and clear) about what exactly you did between the time it ran and the time it didn't?

I'm having trouble deciphering this:

It was setting for 12 months before i touched it
:new cam gear ( timing gear )
(new)
: side plate gasket
: timing cover gasket
: fuel pump gasket
: Oil gasket
: water pump gasket
: thermostat gasket
: valve cover gasket
: oil sump
No.1 Piston was set at top dead center before new (timing gear) was put in, all bolts were done to torque specified strengths
all ancillaries were then bolted back on (torque specified strengths)
All valve clearances were checked and reset both exhaust & intake as per manual specs

I have tried all i know just need another opinion

cheers

fuel compression and spark 3 things you need to make an engine go check all of these that is a start

Are you sure the valve timing is correct? Even with no1 piston at tdc it may be possible to get the camshaft 180deg out. Check the valve phasing preferably with a timing disc but at least do a rough check. If the engine cranks and has compression, fuel and spark it should fire.

Something blocking the exhaust?
Maybe a mouse is (or was) building a nest in there, or maybe it has rusted and collapsed
See if there good suction at the carb and some sort of pressure ( or flow out) in the exhaust when cranking

I would check the points they can go just like that . They cost nothing to put a new set in.

the manual should of mentioned which valves would be tight or loose at the tdc mark on the 1st and 3rd stroke. that would indicate wether the valve timing was off or not.

that just leaves the electrics. make sure the distributor is lined up properly. the rotor should point at the number 1 plug when cylinder 1 is at tdc, once every two rotations of the crank. Also check that the leads are all in the correct order.
