So my CKMA12 leaked water and in turn it rusted the spring that holds the brush down to contact, im taking it to ARB tomorrow so yeah just beware they do leak!
And i have never crossed water above the tyres either, so not like its been fully submerged.

Where is it mounted in your vehicle? I've noticed some moisture in the hoses in mine in certain conditions but thankfully nothing detrimental!

Under my seat, i sunk it in a puddle cause i thought the hubs were in, but my mate unlocked them before we went down the tar.

Water fillled the foot well facing down hill and when i reversed out the water went under the seat and washed over the compressor before i opened the door, ARB said its strange cause they have had them on display in a fish tank with a snorkel still working fine.
All under warranty so shes good.
But that was a quick splash over it, so id hate to see what would have happened if it was under bonnet mounted constantly being splashed with water

3 weeks ago i had my compressor fail, again. Since the first time it hasnt been anywhere near water and has been mounted under my seat.
So obviously it is some sort of recurring problem from the first time it was splashed.
It went to the ARB workshop and they have inspected it.
ARB have just told me they will not warrant it because it has ingested water, yet thats what the original warranty claim was for. I just had it out with a rep on the phone, and im waiting for his supervisor to call me back. This sort of shit is what i would expect from some cheap inferior chinese crap, not a world leading brand which we have trusted for so many years.
Not f^&*#n happy!

Did it suck water in through its air intake or did it just leak?

Yeah just spent some time on the phone and it appears that they have pulled it apart and found milky substance in the piston area, not in the motor as it did on the original warranty claim.
This would be my fault because the only milky substance that possibly could have got in there was a half squirt of inox i sprayed in there after the water got in the motor the 1st time, unless it got in the compressor too im not sure but i didnt have any water in my lines after the 1st splash it copped. I sprayed the inox in there to displace any water that may have got in.

He says it could possibly be good for parts only as it would cost a bit to fix. He is going to do the best he can and give me a "red hot" deal on a new compressor he tells me. Given the circumstance, i guess its all he can do and i gotta wear it.
Next time i will be fitting the snorkel and running the intake line up into the glove box or somewhere it cant possibly find any water unless i sink the whole vehicle and in that case a broken compressor will be the least of the problems.

I was actually thinking it could have just been a build up of moisture that all compressors generate. Hasnt filled up the tank and then had it flow back into the piston?
As if they havent changed the design. Its just a little bit of sprung steel sealing the tank from the piston.

ive had both arb compressors.
the older model burnt out running the 5 gal tank on my car, the rare occasion.
the newer one has been brilliant.
never blown a fuse on either model.
but HAVE melted the two pin terminal plug that is close to the compressor on BOTH MODELS.
the plug is just a simple narva plastic plug, its white with 2pin connector, they replaced, free of charge long after warranty both times.

I ran an ARB compressor under my bonnet on the Sierra for years and it never missed a beat. I have been windscreen deep in a river with no bonnet without any dramas. Also many mud and river crossings without a drama.

Update: My compressor isnt stuffed, but the motor is. Its just as i thought because the first time i got the warranty claim, i pulled it apart and it was rusty inside.
He has offered to return my old one for parts, or $185 to replace the motor, or $247 for a brand new compressor in the box.

I suppose it wont get any better than that.
