Hey all,
I have an 89 Hilux dual cab 4x4 with a styleside ute body. The floor on it is rusted to pieces and borderline falling through.
Does anyone know if you can cut out the floor and weld in a new plate. I hear that you cant because the flat steel base wont be as strong as the original due to not having the corrugations it used to have. Just wondering if anyone has done anything similar or knows of a fix for this. Cant really afford the cost of a new (second hand) tray/body and would like to re use mine.
Any advice or info would be much appreciated
Cheers
Turd

Re: 89 Hilux D/C 4x4 Styleside Help
Could you maybe make up some framework for the floor to go on top of??
Like some square tube frame with the styleside around it?? The put your flat plate over that.
It would probably be easier to make a steel tray.

yeah your probably right. steel tray maybe easier. I like the look of the dual cabs with the styleside though. Would like to try and keep it. Maybe i can do as you said and make a flat floor with a reinforced box base. Just sit it up a bit and that way it all sits original and i only lose a little bit of depth from the tub.
Will see what others say and go from there. Cheers
