Can you buy, or do you have to make, a jerry can holder that fits onto the spare wheel of a Pajero and holds a jerry can?
cheers

mate, I think that it may be illegal to carry petrol on the rear of a vehicle, even if its in a jerry can, however having said that I havent seen what you want, but I made my self a holder that goes into the towbar receiver, it holds 2 cans . I had it powdercoated, it looks good.

I bought the frames from a caravan place, most would probably sell them,'

'I can post a pic if you like

Have you considered the extra weight and its leverage on the spaer wheel mounting (rear door)? I have a bike beak which is held in place by the spare wheel. It carried my bike all thought from Gladstone through to Tiboorburra abd thence down to Broken Hill with no problems, but the bike only weighs about 12 kg. A full Jerry can will be well in excess of 20 kg. It all depends on how far the can sticks out. I have welded a spare wheel carrier for a friend with a SWB Landcruiser and he hadn't carried anything other than the spare wheel.

Also, the legalities of carrying a jerry can out there may be suss.

The only problem I could foresee with this arrangement is that the Jerry Can is going to load up the hinges on the tailgate, but I do like that setup. I was envisaging hanging the Jerry on the outside of the spare wheel (which is where my bike goes when I carry it. You may have to slightly lift the tailgate when you open and close it as the loading on the hinges will be high.

I have been running this setup 4 a year or 2 now and the alignment of the door is fine. (normally run it empty)
I obviously had to make it , but if were to modify a high lift jack mount it would be a lot easier.

The door mounted set up is nice. We tried a wheel mounted and it was not too good. A lot of stress on the spare wheel and a lot of vibration would have come through and ripped it apart anyways I recon.
