hey guys,

just wondering if anyone could lend some advice or possible reason as to why when i turn the gas on in my td42 it starts to ping when revving over 2000rpm's or alittle lower when under load.

i can turn the gas on and off in the car at anytime via a switch.

and sorry cant tell u guys what sort of gas set up or how it works as i have no idea myself. new to diesel.

250000 on the clock and no other engine mods to mention that i can think of that may effect it?

car runs perfect on straight diesel.

cheers in advance.

larry

Is the motor running rough and lacking power (power that it would otherwise have with the gas setup) when the gas is on? The diesel explosion sort of sounds like a petrol motor pinging, but it is a normal sound.

Mine does it if I buy diesel from one of those homebrand servo's
I back off right away as pinging is really bad with diesels...... much worse than with a petrol engine

Too much gas - Reduce the jet size.

thanks for the replys guys,

i the motor isnt running rough at all, and i wouldnt say its lacking power because it gets moving quite easy but at the same time the second i turn the gas on it does give it a little boost in power, just makes it feel more like driving a petrol engine in my opinion.

i've only purchased gas from all the big name servos and all three times its been from a different servo so cant see that been the issue.

and with the jet size what exactly is that and how do u go about changing it, sorry if that a stupid question.

tanks again guys.

LPG does ping in diesel engines, which is exactly why none of the diesel engine makers either do it or let you keep your warranty if you're doing it.
Less gas will make it less obvious, but the only way to stop it properly is to throw the system away.
