Hi all, am looking at a new pathfinder as a tow vehicle and am curious about the reliability of the drive train? They claim it is 3000kg tow capable but will it hold up??
Any help appreciated
Cheers

probably not.
no vehicle will last long if you hook it up to maximum towing capacity and drag that around everywhere.
if you are looking to actually drag 3 tonnes for more than an hour at a time, get a patrol or landcruiser.

hey mate,
my uncle has the R51 turbo diesel. he uses it for towing his boat. 1.4 tonnes, it seams to tow alright but i wouldnt buy one.
pourly built (rattels/minor breakages eg door handles etc)
injector pump leak at 55,000km ($3200 reco pump supply and fit)
plus ifs & irs = poo offroad.

Got One, R51 ST Petrol 05 plate Great Car, Yes they are a good tow vehicle I pull by camper and boat, barely tell I’m towing a 1 ton boat have also pulled a 2 ton boat
Yes they have some bad points
V6 4.0L 198kw big powerful engine heavy on fuel, diesel suppose to be very good I know of one chap who sold his petrol and bought the diesel version to tow his 2 ton caravan arround Aus.
Rear passenger door handles brake design fault but can be fixed I did it my self (pined and superglued <$5) Nissan $150 each door and they will brake again.
Can’t get a Diff Lock (ARB or TJM BOO to THEM) for petrol version you can for the diesel version, rear only.
Great car to drive on the highway, eats up dirt roads and sand has articulation problem due to IFS and IRS open diffs so some hilly tracks are a problem were a Navara with a rear LSD can get up, I can’t.
Would buy another one probably Diesel for the economy and diff lock.
Mine is up for sale if anyone is interested.
