80 series ticking noise?!?

Hey guys, My 80 series (HDJ80) is making a noise under engine braking. Its there through all the gears, but when I used the brake it goes away. Its coming from the front, and I though it may have been the spider gears in the front diff as Im running a part time (thats what it sounds like to me). I removed both hubs and its still there. It sounds like a very unballanced tyre with a stone in the tread when slowing down. Ive noticed its driving a bit differently now aswell.
Forgot to add its a manual. Could it be in the gearbox? Transfer? It sounds like a ticking cross with a pump like noise.
Anyone experienced this before? Any help is greatly needed?
Thanks

You are probably missing a brake pad anti rattle clip.

Thanks but the Brake pad clips are all there and the noise is too consistant. It goes with the revs and not the speed.

Problem with the vacuum pump perhaps.

It does sound like a pump noise. Or a diff centre or bearing or something.
Its definately a strange noise. I drove it again today. Its only there during engine braking. Once I touch the brake or pop the clutch it goes away or you can hear it very very softly. There is a slight consistant vibration on the drivers side floor. It is a very consitant sound that matches the rpm and I think its getting louder. Im going to the workshop tomorrow so will chuck it on the hoist and find out what it is. I hope its not the gearbox or clutch.
Thanks

For those of you who have the same thing in the future. I found the problem.
I checked and knew my front drive shaft and axle where not turning so it couldnt be them. I repacked the front inner and outter wheel bearings so it wasnt them either. After a bit of tinkering I FOUND IT. I was right it was spider gears. But the noise wasnt coming from the front at all. Found a little bit of slop in my rear drive shaft and then retightened and locked the pinion bolt. GONE!!!! The eccess torqueing down during engine braking was lifting it causing the bearings to rub on the housing. I will pull it apart and check it at a later date and probably replace the bearings. But its fixed for now.
thanks for all the help
