2h started blowing a bit of white smoke in the mornings then about a month later the idle crept up to 2000 and i andjusted the idle stop screw on the butterfly to slow it down a bit to get home. the next day it reved 1500 on idle and thick black smoke. mechanic suggested injectors, done that still just as bad. still has a idle of 1500 and tonnes of thick black smoke.

EDIC? Could be up the shitter, and holding it in the start position instead of run causing over fueling perhaps...

same thing happened to mine. I replaced the idler diaphragm on the rear of the injector pump. this rubber diaphragm had perished from the oil it was getting sprayed with and no longer actuated the plunger it should move. cost about 75 dollars fitted at a diesel pump specialist in footscray. all fixed. caused by blown ring blowing oil into breather pipes.

High idle is the sure sign of a buggered governor diaphragm.

took the back off the fuel pump to discover a very rooted rubber diaphram. it was split so now hopefully that is all that the problem is.

Actually, the diaphragm is made out of leather. ;)
