Need to know if an H151 box is a DIRECT replacement for an R151.
Will it bolt straight in without mods?
Are clutch splines the same?
Thanks,
Jas.

H151 was behind 80series petrol and 80series turbo diesel, I believe they were also used in 100series petrol and TD cruisers.

I am not sure if any of the cruisers had a r151?

r150 was used behind naturally aspirated diesels in 105series cruiser.
AFAIK they have different input shafts(different spline count) 'r' series boxes are all over a smaller, lighter duty box, I think they also had smaller output shaft to the transfercase.

turbo diesel cruiser also have a larger diameter clutch than non turbo cruiser.

if you kept the box and transfer case together that would solve part of the problem, but you still have different input shaft and clutch issue to deal with.

Shit no, no Cruiser engine in my Zook!!!!
Yep LWB.... Will retain the G16B (EFI) but will run an R151 gearbox and twin lux transfers(one with gears) with Vitara rear diff and possibly hilux front diff.
4 link rear and 14" air shocks.... Should transform the car.

I can get hold of H151 gearbox/transfers cheaper than R151 units and have heard that R151's suffer from output? shaft problems but after some replies here and a bit of research it turns out H151 is a much bigger, heavier & stronger box than I need in a Zook.

No... For $300 for a Marlin kit I won't waste Chesters time... He is making all sorts of other little bits for me though like threaded tube bungs for adjustable upper links and multi hole plates for moere adjustment positions.

mate I would say you definitely wont want a 'h'series box in a zook, they are BIG and HEAVY, they are more truck gearbox than car gearbox, heavy and clunky

Hey Want33,
How much and were can you get a H151 gearbox and transfer case from?
I have the "R" series in my cruiser and am looking at upgrading to the "H" series. Not quite sure whats really involved in the conversion but am looking into it.

if you get an NA 1hz 80 series h15x box splines are the same
basically big clutch =more torque so TD and petrol and have course spline
small clutch =less torque na 1hz fine spline same as r series

an r series will be plenty strong enough for your zuk
also h series runs completely differnt transfer so you twin cases that are for toyota split case will not fit
so just get an r series box

i am running one behined a 3ltr twin turbo supra engine no dramas till i drove it with water inside for too long  its still going just noisy now

R150F boxes came out of the 2000 onward 3.0TD hiluxs. Stronger than the R151F due to a slightly different design. Ive got one in my 3.0TD converted hilux after i toasted an R151F on the freeway doing a 5th gear throttle roll on! :bad-words:
