Hiluxfront brake upgrade.

Post by stock 4runner »

Can some one please confirm what models I need to get the front calipers out of to upgrade the front brakes and run 60 series rotors. I've searched and looked in the bible but am still unsure executable which ones to use. I'm sure there would be a few models with the same ones so the more I know of the easier it will be to find a donor. Thanks.

Im not sure about the 60s brakes, but I upgraded the front brakes on my LN65 last year.
I went from solid rotors to vented rotors, I know the vented rotors came from a LN106, I think it was an SR5.
The standard calipers had 2x 25mm pistons, and 2x 35mm pistons, the calipers that I put on had 4x 45mm pistons. They also came from the LN106.

I also replaced the brake booster and master cylinder, with a booster and master from an early 80series Cruiser.
The early 80series had drum brake rear, I think after 95 they went to a disc rear.

Made a massive improvement on mine.

Any ln106 callipers should work (I'm assuming they all had vented rotors. I think ln106 ran 4x35mm pistons, v6 4runners may have had 4x45mm rotors.
