This has probably been done to death but do you have to pull the dash out to move the screw to another hole on a 2002 Turbo diesel Hilux or have they finally done away with that nonsense. advice would be appreciated....Cheers

On my '94 Hilux there is a rubber plug in the dash panel that you can remove and poke the reset through that.

If it's got a digital odometer than no. Otherwise yes.

So what's the deal with the timing belt light? When does it light up? Is it a multiple of Km's travelled, or something more clever? Having just bought this thing with ~280,000 km on it, I'm sorta thinking I should do the belt "just in case"...

(mine is a '91 LN106R which has the light come on with the rest of the lights with the key in the IGN position)

I know that on mine(86lux), the T-BELT light comes on every 100 000kms, as a reminder to do the timing belt asap.

If yours is at 280 000, and the light is on now, Id just do the work now, just for peace of mind.

It always comes on with ignition on mine but if it stays on while driving then yes time to change it. However if I just bought the car and didn't know the history then i would change it for peice of mind.

WITH 02' HILUX YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TRICK THE ECU BY TRUNING THE IGNITION ON AND OFF WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE ODO BUTTON
