hey all i installed a h4 hi/lo HID kit in my 80 cruiser ever since then i have no spotlights. with the hid kit it only uses 1 headlight bulb plug and it leaves the other one empty i put the multimeter on my relay from the signal wire and there is no volts with the high beams on i have checked everything and its all fine replaced the relay its only been since i have put the hid's in i also noticed the high beam light has stopped working. i put a normal h4 bulb in the empty plug and turned the lights on and everything thing worked properly all good.
so has anyone had this problem before or does anyone know how to fix it or what to do
cheers and beers

AE international sell a plug in unit on eBay for about $35 that you put in the unused side and it gets your highbeam indicator light etc back online too, the way Toyota switch their lights can cause stuff like this.

Dunno what to suggest mate, my 60 was wired for spots etc, when I put HID into the high/low beams everything went to crap with the spotties, I wound up rewiring the relay etc to get around it, cant recall exactly what the drama was, but it was to do with the earth set up on toyota switching, and it meant the relay was not functioning correctly.
I later got the box for the high beam indicator later, so not sure if it would have fixed the spotlight issue...........if I had known about the resistor box before I rewired my lights I would have tried that first.

I had the same problem when i fitted hid kits to the HI?LO and Hi beam no spot light working and no light on the dsah when hibeam on, found a load module on ebay freom a company called NEWPRO_TECH in NSW its called a H$-Bi Xenon HID load module in you put in H4 HID Conversion kits they usually come up first $19-95 plus postage just plug it into the original and now spare hi/lo plug and all is good dont do what i did a plug it into the arb upgrade loom that i had fitted a while back. now dash light works and the spotlights now work aswell only problem is now i have 4 nice white hid's the spots look crap arewell a good excuse to now upgrade them too

I got Dad the JCar Hi/Low upgrade for Christmas for his 60 series. It s doing the exact same thing.
NO spotlights, and no high beam indicator on dash.
Thanks this sounds great.
So it works with 80 series -(ve) switching. Does it def work with the 60 series +(ve) switching?

not sure if it would work with a 60 series from what i have been told it is because the hid lights have such a low current draw it wont activate so the module creats a load on the system and then alows everything to go back to normal would sugest you check out their ebay site and send them a message they may know more
