I'm looking for a 24v alternator to run a winch.

What does everyone use? Have an automotive co trade book with lots of different makes/models in it, but how to choose the correct one?

AFAIK I want need a car size alt, 24v, internally regulated, and as much Amperage output as possible (will be running 2 x D31 yellow Optima's in series). Will need to fab (or get fabbed0 bracketry to hold in in place (will be sitting where Air Con compressor currently sits)

Seems a lot of 24v alternators are quite low on Amps.

Any advice on make/model?

cheers

Marine alternators would be the go. Not cheap and may not be internally regulated but got the motza's.

Examples only, you may be able to pick up second had cheaper...

DAMN, you got that right about the not cheap bit.........

Bosch make a series of universal fitment alternators for around the $300 + mark...

24v, 55A seems to be what some others use to good effect, so maybe thats a good starting point.

You are probably already aware of this, but just in case, remember that 24V only needs half the amps to get the same power as 12V.

I would browse around at a truck wrecker for something.
