hey all, iv had a new model hilux bonnet scoop sittin in my shed that iv decided to put on my ute. iv got the back of the bonnet raised slightly and was gunna put the scoop in the center of the bonnet to push the hot air out the back. my question is how far up/down the bonnet should i go?? thinking it should go as far forward as i can without it looking stupid keeping it on the flat, and how do i go cutting through 1 of the ribs on the underside, will it weaken the bonnet?? its on a 99 gu ute (with no scoop, obviously) thanks!!

so your adding a scoop to help keep your car cooler If i read correctly.
fitting a scoop will increase the air pressure inside the engine bay and thus reduce air flow through the radiator - more or less defeating the purpose.
bonnet scoops are for air intakes for engine consumption or for cooling top mounts.
if you want a bonnet scoop to aid in engine cooling fitting it on reverse will creates a vacumme behind it sucking air from the engine bay creating lower air pressure in the engine bay and thus more air through your rad - much the same idea as lifting the rear of your bonnet.
If Ive miss read what your aiming for i apologizes for going off track.

Not quiet true with the reverse scoop sucking air out
I had a scoop facing the window and close to the Air
Vents and one day while driving along a small tree branch
Got sucked into the bonnet scoop.
At the time I thought it Was funny
Until smoke started coming out of the engine bay as the shrub
Was down on the exhaust and had fought fire
So from my experience with a backwards facing bonnet scoop will
Infact suck air in .

well over the weekend i hacked into my bonnet and put it in the middle, as far down the bonnet as possible(not the very front. lol). driving along i can feel some hot air being pushed out and temp has dropped about a needle width on the temp guage. probably a waste of time?!
