does anyone know if a 3inch thaipan exhaust is too big for a 2010 bt50??
its got the snorkel, 31's, steel bullbar, alloy tray
apparently once the exhaust goes on we can turn the Steinbauer chip right up
any help would be great.
personally i would have said 2.5inch but the bloke at the exhaust place said 3inch is the go
and he'll get plenty of back pressure.. ?? ..
oh and he quoted $1400 for mild steel
and $2,200 for alloy

Find a new exhaust guy if he seriously wants back pressure in a turbo set-up....

I would have thought twin 5" stacks coming up through the tub to be your best option. And if you want back pressure just jam some potatoes in them till it snuffs, then take a bit out.

Personally I would go a 3" all the way. 2.5" wont flow enough. That is generally speaking with turbos. I would get a new exhuast bloke for 2 reasons. 1. As mentioned before you dont want any back pressure with a turbo set up and .2. he charges way to much

i wouldnt wind the chip all the way ,3/4 is best power/economy with most of them. instead of replacing the whole system try taking out the muffler and fit a straight through pipe to what you have and see how it goes before spending the money.

No your question isn't stupid...the answer from the exhaust guy is. I was just replying in the same theme. You're obviously new here. You'll get used it.
For a 3" mild steel straight thru you should be paying around $600 - 800 depending on the shop.
Stainless is nice, in theory, but save the money and just ask them to give the mild a few extra coats of paint.
