rhs drive shaft

looking at making a rhs drive shaft for a hilux does anyone know what size steel i need,

i used, 50x50x5 and 40x40x4,

its kinda small, maybe something a bit bulkyer, check yamaha lux build up its a few pages back in the members now

That should be heaps strong. Standard tail shaft are paper thin, ok maybe about 1mm.

nope if you read yamahas build thread you will see his twisted peice of 40x40x4
i was running 50x50x5 and 40 x40 solid that i had cross drilled to save weight and it didnt twist

Just measure the length of your shaft after the unis and make it about say 100mm shorter i think thats what i did havnt had any probs using those sizes for the last year or more.

most i have seen and measured have been around 400mm long.

i just got 2 bitst that were 700 long, better to have more than not enough
