Underpowered in a cruiser I would think. Try a 1fz (80 series) motor instead a little thirsty but powerful and cheap.

The Hemi 6s go well, I would think it will be a good thing.

Let us know how it turns out.

They have a decent amount of stick q 265 can be put together relatively cheaply to put out good reliable hp that will be more than equal for a 1FZE and much cheaper and easier to put into a 60 series.

Stock low spec engine outputs are:

1FZE
212hp@4600rpm
275ft-lb@3000rpm

265 hemi base model engine
203hp @ 4,800rpm
262 lbs. ft. @ 2,000

I would have thought the 1FZ would be cheaper to convert? Lots of complete 1fz's around from 1HD conversions. Anyways I based my decision on having owned a cherokee and an AWD 80, the cherokee had a bit more poke but add the weight of the cruiser body and AWD the 80 performed well as well.

Whats a cherokee got to do with anything? IMO a 1FZE would also be a good conversion, but I doubt a adapter would exist for it to the 60 series gearbox so an extra cost would have to be factored in with the gearbox conversion too. There would be much more wiring to get a 1FZE running than a 265 hemi which only needs I think 3 wires to run and monitor.

cheers for the reply guys I'll let you all know how it goes once he gets it on the road.

a good thing in comparison the old 2&3F motors is the hemi 265 weighs 2/3 of the other weight.
