Biggest motor in a sierra

So what is the biggest motor and gearbox that people have fitted into a sierra? Has anyone fitted an old cast iron holden 253 or 308 in the engine bay or should I just stick to the dunnydore v6? Its for a burnout car and yes I will be putting a bigger rear diff and strength to the chassis if its needed. Can be as rough as guts aslong as it works

I had a 13B in a LJ80 once. That was fun.

A V6 is better suited due to weight (and it makes more pwer than a 253 in any case)

A 13B with a nice turbo @ 8000+rpm would go well in a burnout car and be much lighter again.

Yeah I reckon a 253 wouldn't be as powerful as the v6 but it would sound alot nicer! Whats the price range of a 13b? In the low end like the commo motors?

Have driven a Sierra with a twin turbo Supra engine fast but scary as hell.

Have seen 350 chevs shoe horned in as well.

I run a commo v6 on straight gas in my zook and has plenty of grunt to smoke up the 38's and with the gas it won't be as hard to add a turbo or supercharger for even more power

So a 350 will even fit! That'd be awesome! I was looking at my ls1 but I think it'd be a bit hard to squeeze it in and get any form of exhaust manifold on (is tight enough fit in my 80series). I'm leaning towards the commo 6 for cheapness of all parts and i can't complain about $400 motor changes altho the sound of an unmuffled commie six is terrible
So anything to look at like sump mods etc to get the v6 to fit over the front diff? And a silly question would 31x10.5s be better for smoking up than the little stock zook tyres?

I have seen a 5.0 holden put into a LWB sierra on coils with lux diffs/box and transfer.

So anything will fit if i have the money. I can't be bothered going for a full 4wd zook I already got 2 licensed fourbies and have too unlicensed motorless zooks so i think one should be a burnout car
So what diff would you recommend? MQ? Old ford/holden?

You are going to be wanting light and strong not heavy and strong. I would be looking for something out of a bomador or XR. MQ diffs are very heavy. I also know a lot of the rice boys put 5 stud lux rear diffs in there cars for the added strength.

Forgot aout them, have driven one in the US and been wheeling with one as well. They were a slightly strange thing to drive. They had no balance so you forever felt like it was on the edge of getting out of control whether you were on the highway or crawling on a track. The low down power at idle was nice but then again this was before the proliferation of low gearing options.

They werea tidy conversion but the TD VW 1.9 a whole better option

So you reckon the mq diff would be to heavy? I can get an mq diff cheap which is why i suggested it plus worn out 31 inch tyres are very easy to come by on the standard 6 stud rims.

I do prefer the sound of a 351 in a Suzuki.

Why not go for a Vitara SWB.

if your talking of sticking a big ol cast v8 up front, then no I dont think the MQ diff would be too heavy.

supercharged 4.0ltr lexus V8. Nice and light and plenty of power.

They make these fit into MX5's in the UK.

In NZ there is a lexus powered Feroza.

Here is a thought. Get a donor range rover 3.5L or 4.4L. Then you have your diff to go under it as well.
