Return line for oil cooler

Right so i'm teeing off from the oil pressure sensor for an oil pressure guage and if i want to run a cooler where's the best place to return the oil to? I'm wondering this because "I THINK" i'd need to return to a point that would be sucking the oil in to complete a circuit and promote a good oil flow. If there isn't a place to return that would be sucking it in like turbo lines can it be tapped into the sump?

With most engines/oil filters you should be able to get a plate that sits under the oil filter that will take the to and from feed to a cooler.

Yeah a sandwhich plate would be great but haven't found one to suit 1hdt. I ended up cutting the male thread off the pressure sensor (1/8 gas)
then welded it to 1/8 npt for an adaptor to run an after market guage. Looks like a custom sandwhich plate needs to be made.

The only place that actually sucks in a normal oil system is the pump pickup..... everywhere else has pressure..... all you are doing with a sandwich plate is diverting it thru the cooler which is all you have to do by the way... but that is all you can do in reality with a normal oiling system...

When you take the filter off on my 1HDT there i are i think two holes that i remember (one bigger than the other) where the oil flows in and out for an oil path through the filter back into the engine. Does anyone know which one is which?
