Hey all, I have a triton as per title with a 4D56T engine. It has done 430xxxkms and its time for the engine to come out. Now my options are to buy another 4D56T engine and drop it in (easy), or I was also thinking can I put in a 3L v6? My understanding is it will bolt straight up to my V5MT1 gearbox and to my engine mounts with no modification, giving me a fairly decent power boost (plus its cheaper to buy the v6 used).
Edit: my transmission appears to actually be a V5M21, so I take it I am now limited solely to the 4D56T?
I see that the intercooled version of the 4D56 is mated to the V5MT1 transmission, will it bolt up with no issues to a V5M21 box?
Any thoughts?
Thans, Thomas.

Engine options in a 1996 MJ triton 4x4.

Re: Engine options in a 1996 MJ triton 4x4.
Bump: I have found a 6G72 engine for a decent price, now I want to know if the bellhousings for the V5M21 and V5MT1 are the same, and more specifically can I mate a 6G72 to a V5M21 (and have it last, i'd hope so considering the 4D56T engine has more torque, but second opinions would be great)?
I have also found a 4M40 (non turbo) engine awaiting a quote, and according to the tech database this will mate to a V5M21 housing and the turbo version to a V5M31, so i'd assume the blocks/bellhousings must be the same between the two?
Side note, anyone know how the non turbo 4M40's compare to the 4D56Ts? And if it is possible down the track to upgrade a 4M40 to a 4M40T?
Any help appreciated, Thanks, Thomas.
