I have a set of cibie super oscars spread and love them, I have some room for a pair of 140 lightforce. I would like to know if I put a HID kit in them (50w or 100w) how would they go as a spot beam with the oscars?
Would they stand out or are they not so strong?
Need for driving capital to capitals.

cheers.

With a 70 or 100w HID kit, even in the small 140's, (assuming that your Oscars are still factory halogen) you wont even know that your oscars will be on. So you then may as well pull them off.

Or just buy a kit for your Oscars, and ignore the 140's altogether.

I ended up putting 100w HID's in the super oscars and they are super bright.
Now will 140 lightforce 100w HID set to spot give much distance?

cheers.

They should. If they were 170's I'd be able to say a definate yes. There is of course a smaller amount of reflector with the 140's, so maybe the amount of light penetrating outwards will indeed be less, but they should still give out an incredible amount of light in a spot.

If you are after a H3 adapter mount for the Lightforce lights, give me a yell.

some people dont like the hid's, as the light shines back in the drivers eyes from road signs.

im looking at throwing my hella rally 1000 into the bin, crap piece of dog doo.
pretty keen on rally 4000, halogen, but also interested in the hid.
bit overkill for me, night time driving a little, not alot.

your thoughts buddy as you go from capital to capital.

i hear rally 4000, pretty good.
thought of 2 spread beams and ill be happy???

cheap, under 500 too. ebay store.
buying local though.

I have a pair of 4000's. Was very happy with them with halogen bulbs, but changed to hid's. I think the kit I bought was 35 or 50w, can't remember but there are times when they are too bright, coming home from Tuff Truck at the top of Cunningham's Gap, there are 2 enormous signs for trucks to slow down, damn near blinded me....

My mate bought a pair from the States, a different beam pattern to what was available here and isn't going to hid them, they are bright enough for him as they are and he drives regularly from Brissy to Tenterfield.

I laugh. Ever stop to think and wonder why Hella *need* stockists Australia wide ...and Lightforce don't?
Kinda funny the way it was said above.

hella sell hundreds of stuff, driving lights, beacons, tail light assemblies, you name it, relays and so on and so on.

lightforce just sell lights.
and fewer stores around as people mention for parts or backup service.
pretty simple.

...isn't that because Lightforce don't break, Hella does, and is why they need so many stockist around the country to supply spare parts.
/dig mode off/

Bushy, LF need to have a shop front to replace reflectors every 12mths. I am on my 3rd screwed reflector. Its just gone black.
But how much problems do people seriously expect to have from a driving light? If its a warranty claim every hella shop is still going to send it back to Hella HQ before handing over a new light.
LF do the same. Send them a reject and they send back a replacement and there warranty is good (if you keep the reciept).
But seriously Light Force are a plastic light, with a globe holder and two wires. Its not brain surgery to maintain them.
