Outer Limits 4x4 Board

im just about finished my build, and am looking to get my quadrajet rebuilt, i have been recommended to speak with adaptatune, south brisbane,
he gave me a quote of $500 for the rebuild, now he sounds like a top bloke and knows what he is talking about, but a kit would only be $70 - $100 at most (retail). i understand it's a bit of work but that is a lot of labour,

how does this quote sound? anyone else had experiance or wants to give another quote?

and please don't bring up Holley's unless you are convincing,

Back in the day Rochester's were known to be difficult to rebuild and tune correctly, they are a great carby when set up right, fuel efficient with performance, but a bit finicky to get them there.

Holley's on the other hand can be built by any pleb, but are simple and perform accordingly

yea that's what ive worked out, and why i dont' realy want to give it a crack myself,

how does that quote sound? too much or about right?

you can buy re-manufactured ones on ebay for between 280 and 450

yea i have heard about these, but have been told to steer away from these, apparently there not made to well, has anyone here had experiance with the aftermarket models???

has anyone actualy rebuilt a quady before??? i know were all pretty smart blokes on here... surely someone has

it's along time since I had anything to do with Rochesters or Holleys, I know it was hard to find someone to do good work with Rochesters 15-20yrs ago, that probably hasn't improved as EFI is the go now.

Maybe have another chat to old mate and ask him to break the quote down a bit for you and give you some explanation on the amount of labour involved.

Carby kits arent that cheap anymore.

Depending who rebuilds make sure they acid bath it to clean everything out of it.

Try looking for someone that specializes with old Commodores. They would deal with them all the time.Might pay to check out the commodore forums.

they are a pain to rebuild and get right if you don't know what your doing..

Excellent to deal with and there work is awesome. 500 sounds about right, depending on what they were going to do with it.
Drilling the fuel bowl, milling the base plate, rebushing the butterfly shafts, sealing the metering jets, etc. There is a lot
you can do to a rochester.

yea this guy has been recommended to me by A&B holden wreckers, and he seems pretty good, just wasn't sure about the price.

ill ring the guys in sunny coast to get an idea, to compare and do a bit of research and find out what work can be done and make sure they tick all the boxes,

just spoke to recarb, $390 for the rebuild 12mnth warrenty, and they will do a tune without my car (it's not going yet, it will be in for the exhaust)
$99 to tune if i did take the car in,
