Hey guys, any help you can give me will be muchly appreciated?
I have a 99 model Single cab trayback Hilux, IFS set up with 3.0L non turbo with extractors..
So far I've got a 2 inch suspension lift and then other basics like, spotties, snorkel, 31" muddies etc
I wanna make this truck go anywhere my mates do, but I don't know too much about Mods and such..
I wanna put 33's under it, and I've been told I will need a body lift, so how much is that gonna set me back and how much of a lift will I need? I wanna put a rear locker in it, so I needa know what brand would be best to get, or even a price comparison of a few types? I wanna modify the rear leafs to give the back wheels some more down travel so what would be involved in that? And I want to get a winch, so what types you guys think are the best and pricage on them?
I also wanna run checkerplate over the back tray cause I dont really wamma cut it into a comp tray but I want it lookin pretty good:)
Any help anyone can give me would be muchly appreciated or anything else you think I could do instead of or along with these mods!
Thanks ppl..
Mitch

2" bodylift,
Auto lockers front and rear,
agressive 33" muddies,
2" front suspension lift (dial up the torsion bars,
2 to 3" rear suspension lift,
Would be a good start and will fit 33s

I vote the bodylift first as it will need to be approved by QT so it's best not to have too many mods done when you take it over the pits. 50m is the maximum legal in qld so I would go 50mm. A shop will charge under 1k. A kit can be purchased for about $250-$350 can be diy easy if you have a hoist at your disposal.
Plenty of people don't like bodylifts but I think they are a great way to get cheaper clearance, a better COG and result in a nicer car to drive. (when compared to using a big 4" or more suspension lift)

Thanks heaps man, I was leaning towards body lift and bigger tyres...How would I go about adjusting my rear leafs to get max downtravel for rear end?

I vote for body lifts every time, if you go all suspension lift to clear your tires then you raise the whole car chassis included, if you just do the body lift you keep a lower COG.

Rather than a body lift, you could cut the shit ouf of the guards to fit the tyres. That will look tough
gives the impression that you don't care about your car let alone other peoples cars. Other motorists will move out of your way and depending on their personality type, might feel a little scared in side. that's just my theory on the matter.

Haha, that sounds like a plan oldmate
But Cuttin the guards that much will probs look a bit shit in the end.
Superior Engineering do a 2" body liftkit for $400, worth it if i do it myself?

I think 350 to 400 is going retail rate these days.
What do you get in your kit, body blocks, bolts, steering shaft extension, radiator drop brackets?

I bought body lift blocks off ebay or Locktup (can't remember which 1) for like $8 each around 12 months ago, then went down to coventry fasteners and got the nuts, bolts and washers for around $5. 2" body lift will cost you less then $50 if you shop around and install it yourself!!
