NEED HELP: Seat belt will not come out?

Hey everyone,
I own a Landcruiser 100 series and are having trouble with my seatbelt.
My passenger side seat belt wont come out of its hole. You have to jiggle it for it to come out. And its really beginning to be a pain. Just today I took mum shopping and it wouldn't come out at all.
Anyway has anyone ever taken one of these things apart?
It retracts perfectly but just wont come out, therefore you cant put on your seat belt.

I would say get a new one or a replacement from the wreckers. I replaced a frayed strap on one of mine in my old 80series, but replaced the one that wasn't functioning properly'
think about how you would feel if your scenario above went something like this, "I fixed my passenger seatbelt yesterday, took mum shopping, had an accident and mum (wife, kids etc) went through windscreen because the seat belt I fixed didn't work"

You can pull it apart and have a look. They are a pretty simple centrifical ratchet type setup. Something could just be catching. However if something like the spring is broken you'll have a hard time replacing it. Being as it works on centrifical force, the spring has to have a specific tension to it.

thanks for the reply's guys.
But whats to say the one from the wreckers is any better than the one I already have. Mine locks, but locks too good.
I think i'm going to take "oldmate" advice and pull it apart. I see it as a mechanical device that needs a service. I just was wondering if anyone on here had already done one.
thanks again

This is what you got from the words "CAUTION. DO NOT REMOVE." marked clearly on the cover?

x2

it is first and foremost a "Safety Device" that contains mechanical parts.
I have been told by wreckers in the past that they are actually not legally able to re-sell second hand seatbelts for the reason you comment on above Bendev, there is no way they can guarantee the correct operation of the parts and that is without tampering with them. if you are worried about one from a wrecker, price a new genuine one?
There is not many things I wouldn't modify or fiddle with on cars, but inertia reel seat belts is one thing I wont touch.
