Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey guys i am about to begin my 3rz conversion in a 894runner. I know that i can use the v6 fuel tank as it has a electric fuel pump but i dont like how low they hang below the chasis rails.
So just after some ideas of what other people have done.

Would the tank out of an 80 series fit under the rear of a 4runner?
Do 90-95 year model prados use the same tank as an 80?

My 4runner had a jackaroo tank up under the back as the second tank when I bort it, fitted in very well between the chassis rails. The spare tyre and its crossmember have to come out in order to get it mounted as high as possible.

Im pretty sure the V6 and diesel 4runner tanks are the same? Y not just use your existing tank with a surgetank and external pumps?

because it hangs to low below the chasis rails. so if i am going to swap it i may as well get something that gives better clearance.

I'v done some pretty serious rocks with my runner and the standard diesel tank and guard have never caused me any dramas. If the tank wasnt there the next item to take the brunt is the tailshaft which is alot more critical then a dint in the tank bashplate.

If you have a bodylift and mount a tank as high as possible up under the back it is still going to be vulnerable when you drop off ledges but should be protected mostly by the rear bar.

If it is a daily driver there isnt many more options as you still need a decent sized fuel tank to get anywhere other then around the block. If the trucks a toy then you could always go a fuel cell.

The 95 series Prado tank would fit nicely between the 4runner chassis rails and has an internal pump, Its about 75L tho so will hang down a bit. On my prado the rear tank hangs about 75-100mm below the towbar which isnt the best but fine for touring.

Grab one from the 2wd that the 3rz came from. They are shorter in height and have the same bolting up profile. All you need to do is move the round support bar back a little that the fuel tank bolts to as they are longer.
