Wolf ECU for TB48 and RE5R05A auto?

Post by Brenhan »

I am about to turbo the TB48 in my 2002 GU patrol, and I want to retain the auto

Does anyone know if the Wolf Plug in ECU for the TB48 will allow the Auto to function normally ?

does it have an adaptor loom ?

I want a simple solution for an aftermarket computer , as I dont want to have to do a manual conversion .

any input on this would be appreciated

thanks

Mate the 5 speed box will hardly handle a well tuned na 4.8 .I`ve yet to see one turboed and a lasting sucess.Complex to set up and just not a good box.Gu 4.5 or some of the ti and late model gq`s came out with a big bellhousing 4 speed. Our gearbox guy can make them from a road box to a race box.Even low boost settings will create far too much touque for your box. This is a shame because it would be cool to have but just don`t do it to yourself mate.Cheers Billy.

I was hoping that with a valve body upgrade from Wholesale Automatics it would hold 300kw at the wheels .

I do 1500kms a week , and im kind of lazy , hense the reason for wanting the auto to work , that and it makes for a lot less work given that it is already in the wagon now .

lol that auto will handle 240+kw all day long standard.
Upgraded valve body's and higher line pressure is all thats required to make them reliable with big power to.

However, nobody does a plug in for the auto's as they use Drive by Wire.

Unichip will do the trick without a problem though.

I know the Haltech is manual only , I am just trying to find out if anyone has tried the Wolf with the factory auto

Im from NZ , while the Unichip is a valid option , none of the people I have used in the past ( and been happy with their work ) are able to tune it .

I know some people have retained the 5 speed auto and have turbos , but I cant find any more info .

thanks

Can't you just piggy back the aftermarket ECU but retain the factory ecu for the auto? A mate is about to do this on his turbocharged AU XR6.

I guess what I`m saying is you can make it work, nothing is impossable, but when you look into it its very complex to inatially get to work and in factory setting it won`t hold, fact .Then the the bands are very small and are simply not going to handle the berries like a big bellhousing 4 speed. My bet as handy turboed 4.8 owner trade 5 speed Untuched,Get 4 speed and get it built to auto shift. You can thank me later..Cheers Billy.(i know you have that voice in your head that says "I`ll just look after it " but you won`t)

The RE5RO5A auto uses a mechatronic transmission controller which it mounted to the valvebody in the oil there are some controllers in the US but none cheep.

I rang wholesale automatics with the same question. They told me 220kw tops. I have heard of a Autronics Sm4 being piggybacked onto the standard nissan system retaining the standar ecu, geaarbox ecu etc.
Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.

a quote from Wholesale Autos website "
The transmission once fitted with the new Heavy Duty Valve Body can easily handle twice the power and torque while also greatly increasing the cars towing capabilities. All this with nice crisp shift points even while towing. We simply couldn't fault this the new Heavy Duty Recalibrated Valve Body no matter what we did to it (At time of print the valve body had been tested to 580Hp = 430Kw without failure to the transmission).

I dont know what to believe now...

if this is the 5 speed tip tronic auto yous are talking about, this box cant be that weak, mine has 240k kms on it turnin 36" tyres all day everyday, never had a drama, motor is still standard 180kw but surely if these boxes were as weak as yous say it wouldnt handle these tyres for so long?? do alot towing and beach work as well
