lights out

my 86 classic dash lights wont light up headlights do work on/off . but put high beam on hradlights go off no fuses burnt out any help

Sounds like the headlight switch assy/stalk has failed.
mine does pretty much the same, flick highbeams on and everything drops out, scares the crap out of ya the first time it happens in the bush!
some people have had luck repairing them, but replacements can be found on ebay etc.
