Getting rid of new rubber smell

I bought some new rubber floor mats but they stink to high heaven. I can't have them in the car as I now get a headache from them.

Is there a way to get rid of the rubber smell without throwing them out? I've left them outside for a few days and it's not much better.

Thanks.

Perhaps just continue to let the sun attack them for a few days and periodically hose them down with some detergent?

Throw them in the drier even?

there is no way to get the smell out of them. after about 3 months they will stop smelling all the time but as soon as they get hot they will smell again. Its the compound in the rubber. We had a mat in the back of a van at my old work and it was about 4 years old and it still had the smell every day it was over 20*

Chuck them in the bin or return them and spend the extra $50 to get the ones that don't smell.

Give them a thin coat of matt black paint.
