Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Has anybody got any pics of how to modify their bullbar to suit after doing their body lift? Any help would be great.

Ummmm...looking at mine (Claudio's old bar) there appears to be an added section welded on to extend the brackets........Claudio...you still on this board?

Anybody got any pics of there ARB modified bullbar mounts.

Have had mine lifted to fit 2inch body lift, will try to get some pics for ya. Was done when i got car, am plannin on goin tube soon.

I simply welded a flat section to the top of the chassis rail (on edge). lift the bar up and put bottom hole of bar in top hole on chassis. drill hole in plate to suit top hole of bar. Raises bar 70mm but looks ok. have used like this with wicnh and t-boned a magna with no worries

if youve got enough spare metal just drill new holes the correct distance below the current holes to allow for the bodylift. Mine has had the mounts re-engineered but i wouldnt suggest this as they arent very strong and there isnt really anyway to reinforce them.

Wouldn't this lower the bull bar??

DILIGAF has the right idea, I have some pics of this method, will try and dig them up.

no it would raise it. lower holes in bullbar. not in mounts.

Just bringing up an old thread here....

Has anyone got a really bombproof method of mounting the bar 2inches higher that will handle the stresses that a winch will put on it?

This is my only concern and the one thing that is stopping me from lifting the zook and putting bigger rubber under it....

Any ideas/help would be great.

I lifted the ARB bar on my Lux. I spoze it would be the same on a zook.
We just cut off all the mounts, hung the bar in place with an engine crane and made cardboard templates to fill in the gaps.
Then just cut up some steel and welded it in.

short of massively reinforcing the chassis mounting points and corresponding bar brackets I can't see a good way of doing this, The problem, as I see it, is the leverage gained by the extra bracket length. I'd b considering a chassis mount winch block, then bolting the bar to that set up, prolly puts the fairleads at an odd angle , but you did use the word "bombproof"

Yeah i have considered the extra load due to leverage that will be placed on the bar. The only way I can think of reinforcing it so it will take the loads normally applied to the chassis by the winch is to weld in a triangular section of steel that will allow the top section of the bar to be bolted through the top of the chassis rail through to the bottom somehow managing to get some crush tube in there as well.

I'm really just speculating as to the best way of doing this buts heres a little job on MSPaint i drew up to try and explain what i mean....

Worst thing on the ARB bars is how it mounts. looks like finger style into the chassis mounts.

I'd cut off the stand mounts and weld in new ones. I used 10mm on mine which is overkill 6mm would have probably done as it's only bolted to the 2 -3mm chassis


you'll also notice that the bottom hole is set further rearward then the top so this may have an impact on your plans
