I'll be looking at old man emu next. I ran it on a 60 series, and on leaf springs it was a smoother ride than an 80 series I had with 4 inch dobbinson springs and procomp/toughdog shocks.

Based on the toughdog big bore shocks I had that cost 1 grand, i would not recommend them. I certainly wouldn't have much hope for their cheaper stuff being any good.

I would recommend the dobbinson springs for performance, cost and not sagging based on experience.
I could also recommend koni shocks which i currently run with standard springs (plus 2 inch spacers). Although I do think they are a little firm, but then again I don't have any heavy accessories.

But to be honest with all the combinations i've tried i've never been happy with how it drove. Maybe I'm just too fussy.

It really comes down to you're budget mate. For a good touring setup it's pretty hard to go past some decent coils ( I use Dobinsons, new generation steel King springs are good too) with Bilstein or Koni shocks.
