I have been looking at buying a particular hiliux 98 3.0 turbo ,$7500.
250 000 ks seems in reasonable condition my main worry is how long do the turbo's on these models last would it be due for work at about this amount of milage .Also have never owned a hilux before what is this model like in general compared to others

Ive got the 99 model, same engine but non turbo...but depends on how urs has been driven, but i blue the big end bearings+more and 258000kms but i think that was just unlucky cause i only had it for about 8 months before it happened.
To answer your question as to what this model is like, they are great utes, if u want it for hardcore 4x4ing, its not what u should buy, IFS gives you no flex and you have to spend a bucketload of money to set it up properly...
But if its for beach driving, towing, pretty good with alot of 4x4ing but yeah

1kzte or 5le with a turbo fitted? I can't remember if the 1kzte came out in the lux or not... The L series motors are all about the oil changes, I used to gain an at least an extra 15% hp (seat of pants) when new oil went through my old girl. I wouldn't hesitate especially if it's an extra cab but the important factors are how the engines been looked after ie. egts, oil changes, pump mods to fuel it up, how long the turbo has been fitted.
Out of curiosity is it a single, extra or dual cab?
