hi ive got a 04 single cap lux which im happy with apart for the ifs i was thinking instead of doing a SAS conversion is it posible to do a chasis swap with an older chasis say an 86 model does any 1 no wheather the cabs etc still bolt on the same without any majar wrk and also if the engine mounts line up its a 3.0TD is this legal to do???

No on all acounts. The cab mounts are different, The engine mounts and gearbox mounts are different and it will not be able to be registered very easily. If at all.

U would have to register the vehicle as an 86 model with a cab swap but I didn't think it would be that hard to get passed. Just alot of money.

im doing a cab swap atm, i got a 85 two door surf chassis and put a 92 ln106 cab on it. and everything bolted straight up not sure about the 04 model tho....and with engineering it there is a guy in morayfeild that is going to do it for me for about $400 and then plus i am doing inward shocks and have put a 3rz in it. allow about a grand to get it engineered, and yes it will have to be registered as what ever model the chassis is...but dont see how that is a problem as everyone will know its a 04 hilux? lol i have done everything my self so far just gotta make a tray and change my shocks to bolt to the tray. it is alot of stuffing around but will be well worth it! next project is putting gq diffs in it! let me know how you go and if you want his number ill post it up!

100% positive that the engine mounts dont line up,neither do body mounts.
