off road tiny trailer?

planning a trip up the cape and im keen to take my boat its to big to put on the roof of my canopy so im keen to tow it ive had it off road plenty of times but never anything as serious as the cape as sagestions for an off road boat trailer eg wat to bulk up axel sizes stone guards etc

I would kind of look at this as tech. He is asking how to build up a trailer. Building anything to do with cars is tech right???? In the tech rules it states this is the section for general tech questions that are not 100% brand specific.
I would be looking at making the wheels have the same stud pattern as the car that is towing it. That way you dont have to take 2 different spares. I would also look at a way to make the motor VERY secure. Don't over weight it either.

I've towed a tinny to the cape three times tellegraph track included
and had no problems . Keep the tinny as light as possible and let the tyres do alot of the work [I had 33/12.5/15 at 5psi] you will destroy rubber motor mounts if you leave it on the tinny no matter how good you strap it down but in saying that I still did'nt take mine off

Tinny trailer? I wasn't sure what a tiny trailer was all about.
Don't cut corners, or this can happen.
This happened just north of Coen. Sort of ruined the trip for the blokes in the 'Cruiser ute. They had jerry cans in the trailer, and suspect one (or more) broke loose. Having seen the way they drove over the corrugations (they also broke a front shock absorber mount on the ute) I can understand how it happened.

They didn't start the fire (with apologies to Billy Joel
)
The fire happened on the bitumen north of Coen. They detached the ute (which sustained minor damage) and just watched it happen. They pushed it off into the bush when it was all over, and continued to the tip. We met them at the Jardine Ferry (they were headed north as we were headed south) and they overtook us heading south a few days later. We spotted the scorch mark on the bitumen, and found the trailer down a side track.

I took mine to Melville and the Starke no worries.
Treg hitch, extra rollers on trailer to spread the keel load, 16" wheels to match car. Standard axle. I made an RHS frame to sit under the normal trailer frame. This frame carried the spring hangers, cross members for extra rollers and the mudguards.
I also had fuel on the trailer. One jerry can on each side in front of the mudguard. Four post angle iron cradles with flat around the top, that were lined with 12mm ply.
I had a ute so put the outboard in the tray.
Car topped the cape the first time and will never do it again. Trailers give you heaps more flexibility.

I have also done the cape with a tinny on a trailer. Was the same trip a CT mentions above. I didn't modify my trailer as much as he did but I was starting with a bit bigger trailer to start with so I just bought some heavier leaves, sprung the axle over and replaced the standard ball with an offroad hitch. I was in a ute as well so i carried the outboard in the ute and was very concious of loading to the capacity of the springs ie not acutally all the way to the limit. I ran the standard 13 inch rims with LT tyres. The only problem we had with either trailer was inverting a spring hanger on CT's in a creek crossing coming back from Melville. My avatar is the my rig at Laura Roadhouse.
Here is a pic of CT's set up launching at Kalpowar crossing in Lakefield NP.
And just to prove not all tinny trailers on the cape end up in fire balls here they both are awaiting another day out on the beach at Cape Melville. you can only just see mine but it is there
