Clutch fluid growth

Hi,

Hope someone can assist. At the start of last year I noticed some sort of growth in my clutch reservoir, almost like a light jelly towards the bottom. Using vac I replaced both brake and clutch fluid. A little over 12mths latter I notice it's coming back. No change in the clutch operation. If I run a piece of wire through the fluid it seems to move like setting jelly at the bottom. Almost like a growth, I suspect I've got some sort of bacteria and simply changing the fluid didn't remove it.

Any ideas or have you ever heard of it?

Just what happens to brake fluid over time mate.

Thats when you know it's time to give the clutch and brake fluid a flush ;)

True over time it will absorb moisture and break down. Never seen this sort of thing where it starts to form a gell nor in such a short period of time. No other vehicle has ever done it this quick nor does the brake reservoir do the same. Only guess is that the brake reservoir is much better sealed. Though I guess this has been one of the wettest years in well over a decade so maybe I just never noticed it before. They generally say 2year service so I'd be surprised if this was normal at such a short peroid of time.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah well that might just be it, if it's not sealing air tight then moisture and dust particles will be getting in there.

You haven't mixed brake fluids at all? i honestly don't think that would cause it but curious all the same.

Different brands mixed but all Dot 4. That is fully replace the fluid with different brands. Shouldn't be an issue if you don't go from dot 4 to dot 5 I believe.
