Airlocker fitment

Just a quick one,

Buying an ARB airlocker for the rear of my ute and I'm removing and reinstalling the centre to myself as I want to do teh rear wheel bearings at the same time. I've been quoted $260 just to fit the locker to the centre, is this a fair price?? Seems a little over the top seeing as though I'm pulling the centre out & giving it to them then reinstalling it myself.

Not having a whinge, just want to know if thats a fair price or not... if it is, then I'm happy to pay it ;)

Sorry, forgot to say I'm buying it from the same place and they've only quoted me stock standard retail price as well for the locker

Hey Brighty I work in a 4x4 shop on the Northern Beaches and just did lockers for one of our clients. Standard charge is approx 2 hours to remove and install locke setting all preloads and backlash correctly so that's about $220 plus any extra parts required thus being pinion bearings carrier bearing if not supplied etc
Any queries just pm me for more details
Regards
Mitch

Somewhere around $180-220 would be a fair normal price.
Its really a 2hour job max + consumables (parts wash/rags etc..) so $260 isnt being taken to the cleaners but its a bit more than I would expect.

I agree with all of the previous posts.

I've just had a rear center built, plus I needed new pinion bearings ($180 in parts) and it was $400.

So round about $200-$220 is the going rate to get a center built with air locker install.

*by "built" I mean crown wheel fitted, carrier bearings fitted, hole drilled and tapped and backlash setup and checked using marking paint etc.
