Hilux steering components

Hi guys ,
Today i had a disagreement at work with another mechanic over the components in a hilux ln106r Leaf spring front end .

To my knowledge , the RELAY ROD connects the Pitman arm to the o/s/f steering knuckle , which sits on the axle spindle .

Steering force is the transferred to the passenger side knuckle , via the DRAG LINK bar , which allows the wheels to move simultaneously .

I called my mate up who works at toyota , he checked the diagram and says the component between the pitman arm and steering knuckle o/s/f , is the DRAG LINK.

So the real question begins , why have two identical names for two un identical parts of the steering system ,

INPUT anyone?

Cheers!!!

The rod that connects to the pitman arm
Is a DRAGLINK. the rod connecting the 2 steering knuckles is called a TIE ROD.

On IFS the Relay rod links the Pittman arm and Idler arm with tie rods to wheels coming off Relay rod.
Maybe this is where the confusion has started from.

Cheers your right , the diagrams below fixed it up .

I was looking for a drag link part , called up our steering specialist to supply it, and he told me not to call it a drag link because it ain't that , but it is draglink/relay !!

So i called toyota , a friend works there , and he said the tie rod , between the knuckles was a drag link , and also a drag link connected to pitman and drivers knuckle.

This whole thing pissed me off because people keep saying different things ! haha

Cheers anyway !!
