Hi folks I have just bought a Hyperstart Battery Isolator from a garage sale but he didnt have the wiring diagram with it.It has 2 terminals on it 2 with nuts one marked with red paint and no colour marking on the other one and a smaller black wire no idea what goes where.Hopefully someone may have installed one of these and can help me out.You might even be able to draw me a diagram and send it to
dlever@dodo.com.au I would really appreciate it.
Does anyone know if they are any good at all or not so good?????
Thanks

I just typed out a long winded reply to your question and went to post it but this stupid site had logged me out so I lost the lot.

Anyway, here's the gist of it.
Disconnect your main battery negative post.
Connect 6 B&S or bigger from main battery to one terminal of the relay which may be marked "sense", if not marked i would assume the red one.
Then connectr 6 B&S or bigger from the other terminal to your aux battery positive post.
Connect equally large cable from the aux battery negative to the vehicle chassis or similar good earth.
Connect the small black wire to an earth (body work, etc) this is the reference for the sense circuit.
Reconnect your main battery negative post.
The relay connects the two batteries' positives together as long as the system voltage is above the cut in voltage; ie the engine is running and the alt is charging.
When the engine stops, the two batteries remain connected until the voltage drops below the cut out voltage. This means you can have a current drain on your aux battery and it will not flatten your main battery so you will still be able to start your car.

I have had one of these in 3 different vehicles and like it for its simplicity and robustness. The whole guts of it is encased in epoxy resin so is unlikely to suffer vibration or water ingress issues.
