Anyone tried running a dual transfer case on GU patrol cab chassis? Got any pics if so?
Seen the Marks adapter kits, guess need extra transfer case, shortened rear tailshaft, beefed up gear box mounts. Anything I have missed. Longer front tailshaft maybe?

You will need a longer front drive shaft too.

How much low range do you need??
Have you got transfer gears to start with?
i would look at putting in an atlas/stack or the like with 3 speeds before fitting duals

I haven't fitted transfer gears yet. I use my truck on the beach heaps as well as rocks so transfer geras will screw that up for beach driving.
Dual transfer gives me the best of both worlds. I understand it is a bit of work but that's why I am investigating this option.
I think the atlas are pretty expensive from what I can find even though I'm sure the dual direction is too. Might have to chat to Mark's adapters and see.
Turps, that would be great if you could find that link.
Cheers everyone

Pretty sure Bru ran a two piece front shaft, so it would clear a crossmember. And there where issues with getting the 2nd case to change ratios.
His was in a extra cab GQ, which is owned by some bloke named quinny now. Not sure if the dual cases are still in it.

My dual transfer is not a marks kit it is home made ,it uses a 40mm piece of alluminium plate as an adapter plate and a modifyed gq transfer case, the rear tailshaft has been shortend 240mm and the standard front shaft connects to a short jackshaft, the crossmember has been removed and a new fabricated one installed further back, the rear gearbox mounts have 10mm spacers fitted to raise the rear of the case as the extra length and angle of the driveline had made rear case sit to low,it has been in the car for over 2 years and is the best mod i have done so far,i will try and post some pics i a few days

Probably because of the $3000-ish price tag......
I'd love to see some pics of the gq dual case setup!

Much do u think it costs for dual set up by!!
by the time u get custom f/r shafts, buy 2nd case, crawler gears if u want, make, buy shifter assemblies etc. I would guess if paying someone to do it it would not be cheap!

because you wont need custom f/r shafts, custom xmember, shifter assemblies. adapter to nissan box which noone makes atm for an atlas?
At least with dual cases the case is only $50-100, you might not need reduction gears?, and the marks kit gives u 90% of what you need for $1000ish

No doughts you need custom bits for the atlas but I personally would spend the coin doing the atlas over the duals for the compact drive line, being able to dig etc!
I am just saying thats if your paying someone to do it dont expect it to be cheap or hassle free!
