sometimes it can be cheaper to swap engine and box due to the adaptor costs
had you thought of getting an 1fz they are cheap and powerful also use less fuel than the v8 or the 3f
plus its a more factory fit and 6cl rego
if you find wreck just swap the wiring loom

First up the a440f is an overdrive. 4th gear is the overdrive. It's like a 5 speed manual without 1st gear in terms of ratios
Second if you are going to swap engines you are going to run into issues with shifting and the a440f. Mainly the full throttle shifting as the redlines on all the engines are different. All the toyota engines are pretty good for low down torque so the other shift points are generally not a concern. This is why you would have been steered away from using it.
You can swap in the 1fz as suggested. You would be best looking for a donor car. That way you can use the 1fz auto or manual transmission. You can avoid engineering the conversion if you also swap over the brakes.
By far the cheapest and easiest is to get another 3f. You can use a 60 series 3f. the heads and injection system are transferable.

The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.
