Winch - which way is "in"?

Assuming it's mounted feet "down" and motor to the LEFT (looking at the winch)
Why does it matter - if yours is the wrong way round - your brake will be in reverse.
And I'm not sure if there is any way to tell if it's "right" except by feelign the drum and seeing if it gets hot.
No labels on my Ironman.

there should be an arrow pointing the direction just on the side of the drum.

Well assuming there is some indication as to which wires go where then it would be easy to figure out by running the winch.

Winding onto the bottom rather than the top may tend to lift the front of the car rather than pull it down.

ahh...then cable through the bottom. if it is run the wrong way the brake will not hold any load. not a good thing.

Mine winds onto the bottom, with the motor on the left when looking at the winch (Drivers side of car)
I think this is right as I've winched up hills before and had no worries holding ground with the winch resting
It's a Tigerz...
