TH400 is probably a bit tougher in its unmodified form, it is a bit more power hungry, in that more hp is used driving the 400 than the 350... from memory, it's easier to bolt a Toyota transfer (the only one I am familiar with) to the 400 since it has a bolt on extension housing... so you can machine an adapter and bolt it where the original extension housing is....I don't think the TH350 has an unboltable extension housing, so may be more difficult to adapt to a 4wd situation.... I've had a TH400 with minor mods to make it shift more firmly, behind a small block chev in an FJ43, the fitment was not too difficult and was a weapon on the sand......... my thoughts anyway... there would be people on here who know much more about them than me....

TH350 is slightly smaller.
TH400 is a bigger beast.

TH400 should take more abuse but depends what you are running etc.

Th350 is easier to find in my experience. i paid $300 i think for a Th400. it needed a rebuild after a while though and never stops leaking.

if you are serious the guys at wyong autos are the gurus.

i will be going there if i need anymore gbox work done.
