NC 2.6 into a NB 2.3 turbo wagon, what problems will I have

Hello I would appreciate any help, tips or advice from people or people who know someone who have the knowledge about the above subject. I have a 2.6 Petrol NC 12/85 low roof pajero which has done a lot of work and has a bit of rust, na a lot of rust.
By luck I purchased a NB hi roof 5/85 diesel turbo wagon which had the motor/g box/ transfer gone but everthing else was still there.
This truck is in amazing condition paint and interior are excellent and it is 99.5% rust free, of course the idea was to plunder the turbo wagon for all its goodies, but this thing is to good, and would be a travesty to part it and not to get it back on the road, so I am thinking of basically using the NC to get the NB going, but I cant help thinking it wont be easy or straight forward.
Am I heading for a world of pain, misery and anger and should forget about it, or can this swap be achived without to much fuss or cost?
What I do know is that the diffs may be a different ratio, but I read somewhere that for these particular 2 models that the ratios are the same, but if they are different will the 2.6 astron get away with the differing ratios or not
The other main thing I think is sorting the ignition system for the 2.6.
I was told that a lot of the jap looms are generic and basically you should be able to plug the looms from the 2.6 into the T/Diesel plugs on the firewall and have spark, this sounds all to easy and a bit far fetched but I'm hoping its right.
I'm sure there are other things like lining up exhausts and the like that I haven't thought about but I think/hope these will be the main issues.
I wait for your WISDOM !!!
