60series HiBeam Issue

Problem: When flicking to highbeam, it would seem that im getting a dull "HiBeam" whilst "LowBeam" is staying on. Also when this happens, the blue dash like will not come on. Dull HiBeam will go out when flicked back to low beam.

Maybe one or two times out of 20 when driving and flicking to high beam, the blue dash light will come on for maybe 5seconds and the lights will work as normal, but then only to drop out and go back to my original problem.

This has only been happening the last few months, but seeing as i have only been using low beam, ive not really bothered to look into it, Now though, i need to get it sorted, as i need my driving lights.

Just hoping this sounds familiar to someone and can shed some light on the problem. Otherwise i guess it just a process of elimination and checking all the wires again a bit more thoroughly and the maybe replacing the relay?

Have you recently relayed the headlights?

Sounds like your dimmer switch is stuffed how old is it may be an idea to replace it. My 93 80 series dimmer switch is almost rooted.

It's probably the combination switch. It's a pretty common problem with alot of toyotas that old. You can replace the switch and to future proof it, install a relay in the hi beam circuit.
